Recollections of Tennessee,"

"The following manuscript was sent to the late G. Tillman
Stewart of Henderson County, Tennessee, who was compiling a
comprehensive history of Henderson County (never finished). It
seems to be a typed transcription of a 90-page handwritten
manuscript made in 1883 for ex-governor James D. Porter by
Memucan Hunt Howard, then living in New York. In 1902 the
transcription seems to have been a rough copy that was not
proofread or corrected."
